Simultaneous Interpretation for a Childhood Cancer Care Symposium in Nepal

Supporting Technical Discussions on Childhood Cancer Care

The One-Day National Symposium on Childhood Cancer Care brought together clinicians, nurses, policymakers, development partners, and other stakeholders to reflect on progress in childhood cancer care in Nepal, identify gaps in service delivery, and agree on actions to strengthen care through collaboration.

We provided simultaneous interpretation to support multilingual communication throughout the symposium, helping participants engage with technical discussions and exchange perspectives.

## Preparation for a Technical Conference

Medical and healthcare conferences require interpreters to become familiar with specialised terminology and subject matter before the event. To support preparation, we shared relevant materials with our interpreters in advance, allowing them to review the topics and technical language expected during the discussions.

Our interpreters also arrived an hour before the programme began to receive a briefing from the organisers on last-minute considerations related to the technical nature of the conference.

This preparation helped our team approach the assignment with a clear understanding of the subject matter and the organisers’ expectations.

## Interpretation That Supports Collaboration

At conferences addressing complex healthcare issues, accurate interpretation is essential to meaningful discussion among professionals from different backgrounds. Advance preparation, subject-matter familiarity, and coordination with organisers all contribute to effective simultaneous interpretation.

We bring this practical approach to technical conferences, workshops, and multi-stakeholder events where clear communication supports knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
