With the global outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, professional training programmes rapidly transitioned from physical classrooms to virtual platforms. The British Council organised a series of online training programmes for women journalists in Nepal, focusing on climate reporting and evidence-based journalism.

Our team provided Remote Simultaneous Interpretation throughout the programme, enabling seamless communication between international trainers and Nepali participants over a period of several months.

 

Unlike a single-day conference, this assignment consisted of multiple online workshops followed by one-to-one coaching sessions between international experts and participating journalists.

Our interpreters were required to maintain consistency in terminology throughout the programme while accurately conveying complex discussions related to climate science, environmental policy, and journalism ethics in real time.
