Project Overview

On 24 and 25 September 2021, our team provided Remote Simultaneous Interpretation for a virtual legal workshop organised by the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ). The programme brought together judges, legal practitioners, and legal aid providers to discuss approaches to eliminating gender-discriminatory attitudes within justice systems and strengthening women’s access to justice.
The workshop encouraged cross-jurisdictional learning by enabling judges and legal experts from different countries to share practical experiences with Nepalese legal professionals.

The Challenge

Legal interpretation requires absolute accuracy, impartiality, and a thorough understanding of specialised legal terminology. The discussions involved comparative legal systems, judicial practice, and rights-based approaches, requiring interpreters to deliver verbatim meaning while preserving the intent and nuance of every speaker.

Our Solution

Our interpreters prepared extensively by reviewing programme materials and legal terminology before the workshop. During the sessions, they provided real-time interpretation that enabled meaningful dialogue between international experts and Nepalese participants without interrupting the natural flow of discussion.

Outcome

The workshop successfully facilitated knowledge exchange between international legal experts and Nepalese legal professionals, demonstrating the critical role of accurate interpretation in international legal cooperation and judicial capacity building.
