Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Youth Climate Action Fund supports municipalities in engaging young people aged 15–24 to develop and implement locally relevant solutions to climate and community challenges.

As part of a virtual workshop connected with the initiative in Nepal, Square Services provided English–Nepali Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI), enabling participants to engage in real-time discussions regardless of their preferred working language.

Our Role

Our interpreter provided simultaneous interpretation throughout the virtual workshop, covering discussions related to:

• Youth-led climate action
• Municipal priorities and local government
• Climate resilience and disaster risk reduction
• Environmental sustainability
• Community development and public spaces

The subject matter required more than general language proficiency. The interpreter prepared for the programme’s terminology and concepts to ensure that technical discussions could be communicated naturally and accurately in Nepali.

Remote Interpretation Delivery

The assignment was delivered through a virtual meeting environment using Remote Simultaneous Interpretation.

Square Services’ RSI interpreters are experienced in working with platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Interprefy. We also maintain connectivity and technical backup arrangements to support uninterrupted interpretation during virtual programmes.

Outcome

Our interpretation support helped create an inclusive virtual environment where Nepali-speaking participants could actively follow discussions on youth participation, climate action, municipal innovation and community resilience.

The assignment further demonstrated Square Services’ ability to provide remote multilingual communication for international climate and development programmes, connecting international organizations and local stakeholders across language barriers.
