Anish and Erica [Square Services] provided conference interpretation support for our U.S. Department of Energy training in Kathmandu in March 2017. The terminology was very technical but the interpreters from Square Services went above and beyond to familiarize themselves with the presentation documents in advance and were seamless in their support of the workshop. All of the trainers, students, and logistics team members were very impressed by the excellent quality of interpretation services. As a journalist and author, words are very important to me. I want to know exactly what my sources are saying. When I work with Anish I know that is what I will get, direct translation. But Anish’s talent goes beyond interpreting words. If I ask a question that requires cultural interpretation, Anish determines what information I need and finds a way to obtain it in a culturally appropriate manner. The stories I write are about people. Connecting with my sources is key. Anish is always engaged and respectful, showing sympathy, joy, sadness or upset when needed but never inserting his opinion. When working in another language a good translator means the difference between a weak and a strong story. When I work with Anish my stories are always strong.
