Our team provided professional interpretation services for training programmes organised under the U.S. Department of Justice’s International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP). The training was delivered by technical specialists from 908 Devices for officers of the Armed Police Force Nepal, focusing on the operation of the MX908 handheld mass spectrometer used for narcotics and explosives detection in border security operations.
The programme combined advanced analytical science with practical law enforcement applications, requiring interpreters to accurately convey complex technical concepts in a live training environment.
The MX908 is a highly specialised analytical instrument based on the principles of mass spectrometry, requiring participants to understand concepts from chemistry, physics, ionisation, molecular identification, and hazardous substance detection.
In addition to scientific terminology, the training incorporated law enforcement procedures, operational protocols, and military terminology specific to the Armed Police Force. Delivering accurate interpretation required far more than language proficiency—it demanded a strong understanding of both the technical subject matter and the operational context.
Recognising the technical complexity of the programme, we assigned an interpreter with an engineering background who was able to understand the scientific concepts being presented and communicate them clearly in Nepali.
During the Training of Trainers (TOT) programme, the interpreter translated complex scientific explanations into language that was both technically accurate and easily understood by participants. The interpretation also incorporated military parlance and operational terminology familiar to the Armed Police Force, ensuring that the training remained relevant, precise, and practical.
The training enabled Armed Police Force officers to engage confidently with international experts while gaining practical knowledge of the MX908 mass spectrometer and its application in detecting narcotics and explosives during border security operations.
This assignment highlights our ability to match interpreters with the technical expertise required for specialised training programmes, ensuring that complex scientific and operational information is communicated accurately across languages.
